Our Story
There is an old saying, "an Italian grandmother is a gift from God." The time honored traditions of Italian grandmothers preparing family meals each day are the heart and soul of Café Paesan. Here you will find the comfort foods of Italy, slowly braised meats, carefully simmered sauces, handmade pasta, new and aged cheeses, freshly baked breads and the finest local fruits and vegetables.
In every culture, recipes and cooking techniques are handed down from generation to generation, each adding their own unique and personal touches. Everyday in Italy cooks go to the markets to carefully select the freshest and best local ingredients. Throughout Italy you find regional specialties like, cheese from Emilia Romagna, beef and pork from Tuscany or olives from Puglia.
There is also a heritage of "street food". As you walk through the markets in Florence and Siena you will find streetside family cafes specializing in pizza or paninni, pastry or sweets and gelato.
At Café Paesan, we follow the same customs of shopping daily for the freshest and best local products using natural, sustainable and organic ingredients whenever possible. We also import specialty products from italy such as our San Marzano tomatoes, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, extra virgin olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and many more.
We bake our breads daily as well as handmake our fresh pasta throughout the day. We also make our own pickles and giardiniera. We hand stretch all of our pizzas and we prepare all of our desserts from scratch. We use only USDA choice cuts of beef and pork and fresh chicken breasts. We can prepare several items with gluten free ingredients upon request and we never use MSG.
We prepare our foods with the same time honored techniques and care of great Italian family cooking.
