Open Kitchen, food from scratch, its the buzz in Orem. A sort of Cafe Rio Mojo, but Italian. A brand new restaurant has opened up that has ties to the popular Cafe Rio. Steve Stanley is the founder of Cafe Rio, and now has opened up his new restaurant - Cafe Paesan.

A couple things will feel familiar when you visit the restaurant. First, the food is fresh. You can see the food being prepared right in front of you. For those of you who love the Cafe Paesan salad they have an italian version. The chefs say it is the pizza that will win you over.

    Article written by Logan Molyneux

As you may have heard, Cafe Paesan in Orem is like Cafe Rio, but with Italian food.

It's true that some of the creative minds behind Cafe Rio, having sold that restaurant chain and having found retirement too easy (or, perhaps, having waited out a non-compete clause?), decided to adapt the model to fit Italian food. Specifically, pizza, pasta, salads and sandwiches.

Just like that other restaurant, you walk up to one end of the counter and place your order, then direct the finishing touches as your meal is prepared by an assembly line of chefs behind the glass. Meals come in round tins, ready to be sealed with a paper lid and taken home.

And, just like Cafe Rio, we won't hesitate to say the salad is one of the restaurant's highlights. Where fresh tortillas are a foundational ingredient there, at Cafe Paesan all meals come with a puffy, buttery flatbread. They make pizza on top of it, wrap sandwich meats in it, and serve it on the side of salads and pasta dishes. It's delicious, and you can watch workers making the dough as you wait to order.
